(Note: I mentioned the effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide nearly a year ago but when I ‘updated’ my blog that post got erased… whoops…)
Before I went to Peru last December I began reading a lot about safe, natural cures for the common cold and flu viruses. One of the most interesting involved putting a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in each ear in order to kill the germs that some experts believe make you sick (through the ear canal). All I can say is that I think they’re right. Anyone who’s ever been to Lima knows that at any given time half the people you meet are sick with a cold, flu, or something else. I used the peroxide regularly, especially at the first moment I thought there was even a possibility that I was getting sick, and it seemed to work. I did get a couple throat infections but only 1 cold (in 7 months) and no flus. Hydrogen peroxide will definitely be in my travel kit for now on!
