George Foreman Grill Grease: What the heck do you do with it??

I love my George Foreman grill. As a single bachelor who lives by himself and has little or no cooking skills it’s an indispensable survival tool. In fact, in my mind it’s one of the greatest home appliances ever made (even though Salton, the company that makes it, is actually losing money!).

I just have one problem with my beloved George Foreman Grill… what the heck am I supposed to do with the grease?? You know, the stuff that collects in that little saucer thing below the grill. I remember a long time ago my mom told me not to pour grease down the drain. Something about it clogging the pipes. OK, so then what do I do… pour it in the toilet?

Actually, when I lived in South America I was amazed at the amount of stuff people down there do pour into their toilets. It’s like a universal disposal system in the Third World!

As of now, I’m trying to pour most of the grease into empty soda/beer cans, jars, etc. Then I just throw those into the trash before I take it out. But I hate having these nasty-smelling grease containers sitting around my kitchen for a week or so. Isn’t there a better solution?

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know by posting a comment below… thanks!
