Franzia and Fresca: My ghetto sangria

As I mentioned yesterday it’s really, really hot in Las Vegas right now. Since light beer just doen’t seem to cool me down like it used to, I recently switched back to an old favorite: Franzia boxed wine. My favorite is the “Chillable Red“… especially when it’s very chilled.

One night a few weeks ago I decided to try mixing my favorite box wine with the only other thing I had in my fridge: Fresca. In case you don’t know (and a surprisingly large percentage of people don’t) Fresca is a delicious, sugar-free “grapefruit”-flavored soda. It’s the only soda in the world that I actually drink on a semi-regular basis…
Anyway, I mixed them together in about a 50/50 ratio and stumbled upon my new favorite drink. I call it “Las Vegas Ghetto Sangria“. Here’s the exact recipe:

  • 12 ounces ice-cold “Chillable Red” Franzia
  • 12 ounces ice-cold Fresca
  • Juice of 1 fresh lime

Mix all ingredients together… preferably in a large Mason jar. Why a Mason jar? Because that’s just how we do…
