I don’t care what anyone says, Zinedine Zidane is a badass! There aren’t too many French guys who I can even stand, much less watch on TV on a regular basis for an entire month. But Zidane’s performance in the World Cup — apparently the last of his career — was awesome. In most of France’s games I wanted the other team to win, but it was a pleasure watching the great Zidane wreck shop on some of the greatest players in the history of soccer — including all those overpaid Brazilian chumps! And, for me at least, the final was perfect…
- I got to see a good soccer game.
- I got to see a soccer legend drop a big dumb Italian fool for talking about his momma.
- The team I disliked less — and who could barely handle a severly-undermanned US squad — become World Cup champions.
Although I would have liked to see the US, Brazil, and/or Mexico do a little better, overall I thought it was a decent World Cup, filled with all the excitement — including crotch-stomping and violent headbutts — any soccer fan could ask for!
